Archdiocese of Bhopal
The Archdiocese of Bhopal has already crossed the 50th year of its presence mission in the heartland of India. Important as this span may be, the exercise of stock taking of the past and planning for charting a course afresh is built in our vision "To become a communion of communities" If we trace the history of our Archdiocese, the overall picture that evolves, is one of selfless and dedicated service of many, namely the two former Archbishops- the late Eugene D'Souza and Archbishop Emeritus Pascal Topno, as well as a number of Priests, Religious men and women and by faithful who have pooled in their spiritual and temporal resources to build up the Archdiocese as it is today. These persons had branched out into the Spiritual, Educational, Social and Health dimensions of the lives of the people in this region and beyond. In the recent past we have courageously ventured into other frontier ministries such as Prison service, Health care, reaching out to the Nomadic people, and street children, bringing solace to aids victims and providing a human touch to destitute.
Happily, a lot has been done in these areas while much still remains to be done. Hence, we have to guard ourselves against complacency. We make every possible effort, individually and collectively, to help our Archdiocese become a Communion of Communities.
