respect human in return” said Ms Bhakti Sharma.
Archdiocese
of Bhopal in collaboration with St. Theresa’s Girls School, Piplani organized students’
interaction on plastic pollution and climate change on August 28, 2018. The
speakers from the students of class 9th to 12th were debating a motion on
climate change and plastic pollution through which they created an awareness on
protecting the environment. Many of the speakers brought out the example of
Kerala situation as a symbol of human negligence to protect environment. The Social worker and Barkhedi Abdullah's Sarpanch
Ms Bhakti Sharma graced the occasion.
The program
began with a prayer dance presented by the students of the school followed by lighting
of the lamp.
Ms Bhakti
Sharma, in her address, said that we have to make joint efforts to keep our
surroundings neat and clean. She said that during the rainy season the drainage
gets damaged easily due to throwing the plastic waste. This situation we see in
many places of Bhopal city and the road gets blocked giving numerable problems
to the traffic. Therefore it becomes
necessary not to use polythene in our homes and its surroundings, she added.
PRO, Fr
Maria Stephen said in his address that the purpose of organizing this
interaction is not to limit oneself with an awareness but to develop one’s own
skills to protect the environment with the group and individual
activities.
PR Office
coordinator, Mr. Sudhir Sharma encouraged the students to take leadership to
make difference from other institutions in terms of controlling plastic
pollution.
During the
interaction a group of students said that- the use of Plastic becomes necessary
in our life. It cannot be eliminated completely
but, at the same time a proper disposal and recycling of plastic items should
be carried out. On the contrary, the other students expressed their view on the
topic saying- usage of plastic should be completely eliminated as it is harming
the environment. The human activities are responsible for climate changing
& global warming.
Trophies
were distributed to all the participants by the invited guests.
