Archdiocese of Bhopal conducted one day workshop cum training program for the volunteers, Catholic School counselors and activity teachers, who are regularly in touch with student’s life to intervene suicidal tendencies among the students at Pastoral Centre, Bhopal.
The program
began with a short prayer service conducted by Mary Rosario followed by welcome
of all the participants by Fr. Maria Stephen, the PRO of the diocese.
L.S. Herdenia,
the Sr. Journalist expressed his anguish and worries to see the suicidal
tendencies on rise these days. He asked all the participants, to take this
training program seriously to promote suicide free society.
Dr. Maya Bohre
from Indore, the main resource person gave many tips regarding cause of
suicidal tendencies and how to manage and prevent the abnormal behavior which
leads to suicide. She explained the myth and risk identification with
participants to come forward to stop the violence against oneself.
After the
lunch break the entire participants were divided in four groups to discuss
elaborately the cause of suicide tendency according to different age group.
Archbishop
Leo Cornelio extended his good wishes and blessings to start a call centre to
help the students, the youth and old to stop the suicide tendency.
Fr. Maria
Stephen, the PRO assured all the support and cooperation from the Archbishop
who is taking a lot of interest to promote this noble project.
Over 60
educationists, psychologists, and volunteers attended one day workshop cum
training program.
After the
orientation workforce was formed to reach out to different schools to bring
awareness regarding suicidal tendency.
At the end
Fr. Maria Stephen thanked all the participants especially Dr. Maya the main resource
person for motivating and inspiring the participants to begin the project with
vigor and zeal.
