Archdiocese of Bhopal organized Sadbhavana Rally cum Inter-religious prayer on 2nd October, the
birth of Mahatma Gandhi at E-6, Arera Colony, in which people all religious
participated. Archbishop Leo Cornelio said in his address - it is a need of the
hour to raise all our hearts and minds together to build one nation burying
different caste systems of our country. As all the rivers reach one destination
in the end we need to become aware of our origin and the purpose of our
existence to promote peace and harmony in our country. Haji Mohd. Haroon, the
Muslim leader asked all the people to build the country on the basis of non-violence.
Acharya Krishna Kumar Dubey and Gyani Dilip Singh appreciated the contribution
of our youth to promote unity and brotherhood in our country.
The Rally began with a prayer led
by Pastor Sanjay Masih, and was led by Heads of different religions, giving the
message of unity in diversity. It took off at 5.30 pm, from Assumption Church
compound, passed through Sai Board and ended at Pastoral Centre. At Pastoral
Centre where an Inter-religious prayer was held from 6.30 to 8 pm, Heads of
different religions offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, followed by
National anthem.

Archbishop Leo Cornelio of Bhopal, Haji Mohd. Haroon (Muslim), Sardar Dileep
Singh (Sikh), Acharya Krishna Kumar Dubey ( Hindu), Pastor C.P. Singh
(Christian), Bhante Rahul Putra (Budhist) gave valuable messages on communal
harmony, and unity of the country and offered prayers for the various needs of
the nation.
Other participants offered prayers
for the constitution and the President, for the Prime Minister and his Cabinet,
for the Judiciary, for the Government of M.P. for the Security of women, for
the social and spiritual uplift of children and youth, for peace in families,
for the uplift of the poor and for the end of terrorism.
About 500 people of different
Religions and Churches participated in the rally and the prayer. The prayer was
jointly organized by Commission for Dialogue & Ecumenism, UCPI Bhopal and PR
Office. Fr. Maria Stephen, PRO of Bhopal Archdiocese, graciously welcomed the
distinguished guests and all participants. Fr. Jose Prakash, Secretary for
Dialogue & Ecumenism shed light on the purpose of organising the Rally and
Inter – religious Prayer. Pr. Keshab Pradhan thanked one and all for their
participation. The choir of Assumption Church, led by Mr. Gerry Arockiaswamy
helped all the participants to pray better by their melodious singing and Sr.
Sangeeta Xess DVS very ably anchored the whole program.
